The history
A House with soul
Ana's house is an old family home located in Cabañas de la Sagra, a small town in Toledo. Originally built by his grandparents over a hundred years ago, the house had witnessed entire generations, being filled with laughter, stories and memories that made it special. Mainly intended for the breeding of horses and mares. THE family business. Initially modest, over time it had undergone various transformations.
At that time, this house was the meeting place for family gatherings and celebrations. However, over time, Ana moved to the city in search of new opportunities.
Years passed and the house, with its old but robust structures, remained empty for long periods. It was then that Ana, after inheriting it, decided to give it a new purpose. Inspired by her love for cooking and hospitality, she decided to transform it into a restaurant in which the main dish and the one that made her famous in the surrounding area was her stew. Ana's stew.
The years of working in the restaurant were hard, until her son, a graduate in hospitality at the University of The Hague, decided to reform it and change the concept to open "Casa Elena", in honor of his grandmother Elena, the owner of the restaurant. home. A cozy haven for gastronomic travelers in search of authentic experiences. He transformed the main living room into a bright space with large windows and accommodated a large, open-plan space for events upstairs. The philosophy of this new restaurant was governed by the concepts of slow food and km0 with local ingredients. Casa Elena quickly became a popular destination for foodies and those seeking the tranquility of the countryside. Casa Elena managed to be part of the Bib Gourmand and obtained 1 Repsol sun. Chefs and cooks with Michelin stars were in charge of the kitchens, creating dishes with vegetables from the garden and filling the tables to capacity each day.
With the restaurant booming, Ana spent many years dedicated to her son's business, receiving diners from all over Spain. However, the pandemic changed many things not only in the hospitality industry, but in the minds of hoteliers, and the nostalgia for enjoying family gatherings and the tranquility of home made both Ana and her son César want to take a break from their career as a hostess and hotelier. Although he loved rural life and hospitality, he decided to return the house to its family roots. Preserving some of the aspects of Casa Elena, he once again transformed the house into a place for his family and friends, and now also for all of you to enjoy.
Now, Ana's house resonates again with laughter and family conversations. A house with many stories to tell. Now Ana is the grandmother, and in honor of her this house is named after her. A place where the past and the present meet with a history full of tradition, passion for gastronomy and a family legacy that will last over time. Welcome to Casa Rural Ana.
